PETALING JAYA:
Members of PPBM have unanimously agreed to abolish the position of party chairman as well as the presidential council, which was headed by the party’s top leaders.

PPBM information chief Wan Saiful Jan said the proposal to abolish the chairmanship was adopted unanimously at the party’s annual meeting today.

The position was last held by Dr Mahathir Mohamad until he controversially left the party in March.

Wan Saiful said a constitutional committee had conducted briefings for all grassroots members and leaders on the proposal.

“We have also abolished the presidential council that was headed by the party’s top leaders,” he said in a statement.

Wan Saiful said that PPBM has also decided to set up an associate members’ wing.

“We feel that it is time to have an official structure for our associate members as there is high demand out there from people who wish to join us,” he said.

Wan Saiful added those who join PPBM now will automatically be lifetime members, by paying a fee.
