He said the letter by Razaleigh to the speaker of the Dewan Rakyat, would not be discussed at a BN meeting tonight.

Discussions on the budget would not be on the agenda, as BN had already decided on its stance. “Barisan’s support remains,” he said briefly.

Opposition politicians have repeatedly questioned whether the budget would be approved by the Dewan Rakyat on Thursday in the face of 28 motions of no confidence in prime minister Muhyiddin being tabled.

Razaleigh had said he would not attend the budget debate while the government’s legitimacy was in question, and had chastised the speaker, Azhar Azizan Harun, on his stance regarding priority for the confidence motion.

In September, Razaleigh had written to Azhar seeking a guarantee that the no-confidence motion would be raised at the next Dewan Rakyat meeting. Azhar replied that he was bound by the rules of the Dewan Rakyat and he requested Razaleigh to negotiate with law minister Takiyuddin Hassan “to give priority to certain private motions”.

Razaleigh said the Speaker’s stance was misconceived and unconstitutional.
