This comes as Yayasan Wilayah Persekutuan (YWP) today threatened to sue PAC chairman Wong Kah Woh over his statement upon the completion of PAC’s probe into 97 land deals by Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) since 2011.
YWP chief legal officer Mohd Fadzil Ab Hamid said the foundation is looking at the possibility of instituting legal action over the allegations made by the PAC.
Based on its probe into the land deals, the PAC found that YWP’s involvement in the purchase of DBKL land was a conflict of interest as the federal territories minister and the Kuala Lumpur mayor are the foundation’s chairman and trustees board member, respectively.
“The statement by YWP to sue our chairman is totally uncalled for and an attempt to challenge and desecrate the institution of Parliament.
“Any allegations or threats to the PAC or its members, in relation to issues under investigation or reports tabled, is a clear attempt to interfere with the powers of Parliament,” PAC said in a statement.
In its report, released on Tuesday, the PAC had also recommended that YWP be turned into a statutory body.
