PETALING JAYA:
Top Glove Corp Bhd’s shares dropped sharply today, after an enhanced movement control order (EMCO) was imposed on its workers’ dormitory in Klang, Selangor.

A Reuters report said the company’s shares fell by 9.72% in early trade this morning.

Yesterday, Senior Minister for Security Ismail Sabri Yaakob announced that the company’s men’s dormitory at Jalan Abadi 1A/QU8 and women’s dormitory at Jalan Abadi 1A and Jalan Abadi 10A/KU8 would be under lockdown from today until Nov 30.

He said the EMCO would affect 13,190 workers and nearly 1,200 of the area’s residents.

Top Glove’s facilities in Meru, Klang, have been linked to the Teratai cluster, which recorded 14 new cases yesterday, bringing the total number of infections in the cluster to 228.

The company has a total of 20 factories and workers’ dormitories in Meru. While its factories remain open for now, it has been asked to screen all its factory workers and those living in the dormitories.
