Tuition centres, kindies in Sarawak green zones to reopen tomorrow

All nurseries, kindergartens, tuition centres in Kuching, a red zone, will remain closed.

Kindergartens will have to follow strict SOPs.
KUCHING:
All tuition centres and kindergartens in green zones will reopen tomorrow (Nov 17), the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee announced today.

Committee chairman Douglas Uggah Embas said they must adhere strictly to the SOPs to prevent the spread of Covid-19.

He said nurseries, kindergartens and tuition centres in Kuching, which is a red zone, would remain closed as the situation was not stable yet.

There are five active clusters in Kuching, namely Green Hill, Wisma Saberkas, Jalan Abell, Seladah and Baki.

“Today, Sarawak also reported one Covid-19 case, involving a four-year-old boy. He is a family member of two confirmed cases, linked to the Green Hill cluster,“ he told a press conference.

Uggah said the boy tested negative on Oct 31. However, his second test result came back positive on Nov 14.

He said the state had reported 1,041 cases so far, including 19 deaths.

He added the committee was looking into improving the SOPs, especially at retail outlets that used an automatic thermometer with a tripod stand.

“We noticed that some of these premises would place such thermometers there without anyone monitoring it.

“So, they might not be aware if someone with a higher temperature enters their premises. So, we are looking into this and how we can improve our SOPs,” he added.
