GEORGE TOWN: The Penang government today said there would be no Datukships or other state honours awarded this year due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the conditional movement control order (CMCO).
State assembly speaker Law Choo Kiang said the conferment of state honours and medals originally scheduled for Nov 21 would now be deferred to Jan 16.
“This is to comply with the CMCO rules announced by the senior minister for security to curb the spread of the virus,” he said in a statement here today.
