MDEC said it chose to extend the initiative to a month due to the success of past Malaysia Tech Week events and the increased importance placed on the digital economy in dealing with the consequences of the Covid-19 pandemic.
At an online press conference, MDEC’s chief marketing officer, Raymond Siva, said Malaysia was well positioned to be the “heart of digital Asean”.
He said “we are the centre of Asean, and we have the right sort of languages, the right balance of views, people, industries, and a 25-year track record”.
Siva said those attending talks and events during the month can learn from one another in adapting their own business to the new digital economy to face the Fourth Industrial Revolution (IR 4.0).
Global industry leaders, such as Randi Zuckerberg, founder and CEO of Zuckerberg Media, and Chan Kok Long, co-founder and executive director of iPay88, are among those expected to take part in panel discussions.
