He said they want the government to extend the loan moratorium by six months and allow a one-off RM10,000 withdrawal from the Employers Provident Fund (EPF).

“Our support (for the budget) is based on these two conditions. It is a conditional support,” he said in his 90-minute speech during the budget debate at the Dewan Rakyat today.

Najib’s remarks came as Perikatan Nasional leaders voiced support for the budget.

In a joint statement, the presidents of PPBM, PAS, STAR and SAPP said the budget was a manifestation of the government’s caring attitude in ensuring the people’s welfare and well-being were provided for.

“As such, all parties should abide by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong’s command for the people to be prioritised during this challenging period,” they said.

The leaders said the PN-led government has never compromised in efforts to protect the people, support businesses and strengthen the economy.

“The cooperation of all parties is important in maintaining the momentum of the economic recovery for the sake of everyone’s well-being.”

The respective presidents of the four parties are Muhyiddin Yassin, Abdul Hadi Awang, Jeffrey Kitingan and Yong Teck Lee.
