Headmaster claims trial to sexual assault of girl, aged 13

RAUB:
A primary school headmaster pleaded not guilty in the Sessions Court here today to sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl in his office.

The 54-year-old is alleged to have committed the offence at his school in a Felda settlement in the Lipis district on Nov 3 last year.

The charge was framed under Section 14 (a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017 as he was in a position of trust.

That provision states that touching an underaged child is an offence and those found guilty could be jailed for up to 20 years and ordered to be whipped twice.

Judge Ahmad Faizadh Yahaya imposed bail of RM12,000 with two sureties and fixed the case for mention on Nov 27.

The accused posted bail.

Deputy public prosecutor Samira Khalili prosecuted while Gerard Lazarus represented the accused.
