Inspector-General of Police Abdul Hamid Bador says people were free to go about their daily activities.
KUALA LUMPUR:
Inspector-General of Police Abdul Hamid Bador has given an assurance that the country’s security and public order is under control even though an emergency was not declared.

He said the police are keeping their focus on maintaining law and order as well as enforcing procedures under the recovery movement control order (RMCO).

“Police on the ground are continuously directed and reminded to increase SOP enforcement to ease the health ministry’s burden.

“The people are free to carry out their daily activities without having to worry about their security, but subject to the SOPs in their respective areas,” he told Bernama today.

Hamid said, however, the police would not compromise with irresponsible people found to be causing mischief and chaos while warning that the department was constantly monitoring the activities throughout the country.

Yesterday, the King said there was no need to declare a state of emergency in the country after it was mooted by Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin.
