Agong to meet Malay rulers over PM’s proposals

Istana Negara says the meeting among the Malay rulers will be held soon.

Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah met Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin yesterday.
PETALING JAYA:
Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah will meet Malay rulers on proposals mooted by Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin.

In a statement, Comptroller of the Royal Household Ahmad Fadil Shamsuddin said the royal meeting will take place at Istana Negara soon.

“(The rulers) will discuss and refine the proposals presented by Tan Sri Muhyiddin.”

The statement did not touch on the details of these proposals.

Fadil said Muhyiddin presented his proposals to the King during an audience at Istana Abdul Aziz in Kuantan, Pahang, yesterday following a special Cabinet meeting.

The audience lasted around one and a half hours.

Fadil said Sultan Abdullah understood the need for continuity in the administration of the country in the fight against Covid-19.

“In fact, he is very concerned about the restlessness and anger of the people following the latest developments.”

Fadil said Sultan Abdullah has advised the people to remain calm while waiting for his decision on the proposals.

“All citizens are advised against speculating as this could cause confusion and unrest and threaten the peace of our beloved country.”
