Refer Khairuddin to rights committee for endangering MPs, says Kit Siang

The DAP veteran says the PAS minister attended Dewan Rakyat sittings instead of being under quarantine after his Turkey visit.

DAP’s Lim Kit Siang says he will raise the issue of Mohd Khairuddin Aman Razali’s violation of the Covid-19 SOPs when Parliament reconvenes on Nov 2.
PETALING JAYA:
DAP veteran Lim Kit Siang said Plantation Industries and Commodities Minister Mohd Khairuddin Aman Razali, who drew flak for breaking his 14-day quarantine rule after his Turkey visit, should be referred to the Rights and Privileges Committee when Parliament reconvenes on Nov 2.

Lim, the Iskandar Puteri MP, said the PAS minister had violated the Covid-19 SOPs and threatened the health and lives of other MPs when he attended Dewan Rakyat sittings from July 13 until July 16 after returning from a supposed work-trip to Turkey.

He said any minister who violated the SOPs had no moral authority to remain in the Cabinet while the rest of the world was battling the rising rate of infections and mortalities due to the pandemic.

“Has PAS no other MP to replace Khairuddin as plantation industries and commodities minister?

“I have given notice that I will raise the issue of Khairuddin’s violation of the Covid-19 quarantine SOPs in the November meeting of Parliament,” he said.

He asked if Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin would move a motion to refer Khairuddin to the parliamentary committee.

“Or is Muhyiddin being held to ransom by Khairuddin and other PAS ministers and deputy ministers as his government will fall if PAS withdraws support?”

He noted Umno’s announcement earlier this week that the party was reviewing its support for the Perikatan Nasional (PN) government.

Lim also criticised the lack of action by the authorities as investigation papers involving Khairuddin were being passed back and forth between the police and the Attorney-General’s Chambers.
