3 workers test positive for Covid-19 at heart hospital

All three had been in close contact with a recently discharged patient who had tested positive after leaving.

Cardiac Vascular Sentral Kuala Lumpur said the patient had tested negative when an emergency procedure was carried out but was informed later by the health ministry that he had tested positive.
KUALA LUMPUR:
Cardiac Vascular Sentral Kuala Lumpur (CVSKL) today said three of its employees had tested positive for Covid-19.

This comes after the health ministry informed them that a patient, who had been discharged from the centre, had tested positive.

The 52-year-old patient had undergone an emergency procedure after being referred to CVSKL by another clinic and was an inpatient there from Oct 8 to Oct 13.

In a statement, CVSKL said the patient had tested negative upon arrival and was discharged showing no symptoms.

Following the health ministry’s alert, CVSKL said they had begun contact tracing procedures. All staff and doctors were tested for the virus.

However, three employees who had been in close contact with the patient tested positive.

The affected areas had been disinfected and sanitisation work will be extended to the rest of the hospital.

CVSKL is currently in the process of reaching out to all relevant patients and visitors. It remained operational, with plans to resume regular services on Monday.
