Nor Hayati was first tested negative after the first screening on Sept 26.
She went for a second screening on Sunday and continued to quarantine herself until the second test showed a positive result.
A statement from her office said she had taken the initiative to quarantine herself upon returning from Sabah, adding that she also did not attend any event after that.
“All close contacts to Nor Hayati have been identified by the Muar district health office and have undergone screening and are waiting for the results,” her office said.
It urged Maharani residents to stop panicking over viral messages regarding Nor Hayati’s condition and to seek verified information from the health ministry.
The office said the viral messages regarding the health of the assemblyman also revealed personal information of her family.
“We have identified the individuals who started spreading the message and have lodged a police report and we will follow up with legal action,” it said.
