2 new Covid-19 clusters in Perak and Sabah

The two clusters account for 27 of today's 691 cases

The two new clusters are the Batu cluster in Taiping, Perak and the Ramai-Ramai cluster in Sandakan, Sabah.
PETALING JAYA:
The health ministry has identified two new Covid-19 clusters, in Perak and Sabah.

Combined, the two clusters account for 27 of the 691 new cases reported nationwide.

The new cluster in Perak, the Batu Cluster was detected in Taiping during a screening of a detention camp’s personnel and their families.

A total of seven people have been tested positive and they are being treated at Hospital Raja Permaisuri Bainun in Perak.

To date, a total of 860 people had been screened including the seven who tested positive.

A total of 182 have tested negative while 671 others are awaiting their results. The source of the infection is still being investigated.

The new cluster in Sabah is known as the Ramai-Ramai Cluster and it was detected in Sandakan.

The index case is a bus driver who experienced syptoms on Sept 27 and tested positive on Oct 3. The patient is being treated at the Duchess of Kent Hospital in Sandakan.

To date, a total of 166 people had been screened including 20 who tested positive.

A total of 146 people are awaiting their results. The source of the infection is still being investigated.

Meanwhile, health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah also provided an update on seven active clusters which had new cases today.

This included 394 cases in the Tembok Cluster, Bangau-Bangau Cluster (30 cases), Jalan Meru Cluster (15 cases), Bah Sintok Cluster (3 cases), Benteng PK Cluster (2 cases), Selasih Cluster (1 case) and Embun Cluster (1 Case).
