
In a statement, it said it was notified by health officials that the staff member has been diagnosed with coronavirus and is undergoing treatment in a government hospital.
“The affected person has been under self-quarantine at home since returning, before being confirmed as a positive case,” it said.
It said the staff member, who works for The New Straits Times (Malaysia) Bhd, had not visited any of the company’s premises since returning from Sabah.
“Media Prima will provide the necessary support to the affected person,” it said.
The statement added all employees who had returned from their duties covering the Sabah polls had undergone the mandatory Covid-19 tests and “are undergoing the 14-day self quarantine”.
The Sabah election campaign was held from Sept 12 to 25. The polls were held on Sept 26.
Yesterday, health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said 206 Covid-19 cases had been recorded with a travel history to the state since the election.
The number of Covid-19 cases has been at an all-time high, with 317 infections reported on Saturday and 293 yesterday. The health ministry expects the number to remain high as screening of close contacts of confirmed cases is going on.
