Trial judge Mohamed Zaini Mazlan set the date after deputy public prosecutor Poh Yih Tinn told the court the prosecution was expecting to conclude her corruption case when the hearing resumes on Oct 5.
The prosecution is expected to call two more witnesses for the corruption case next week. The court had previously given priority to the case to proceed.
Rosmah is on trial on corruption charges, where she is accused of soliciting RM187.5 million from Sarawakian businessman Saidi Abang Samsudin as an inducement to help him secure the project for 369 schools in rural Sarawak, worth a total of RM1.25 billion, through direct negotiation from the education ministry.
She was also slapped with two charges of receiving RM6.5 million cash from Saidi.
“We are now at the tail end of the case. We are confident of wrapping up our case next week or latest by November,” Poh said.
Rosmah’s lawyer, Geethan Ram Vincent, urged the court to set another mention date, to allow the other defence team and prosecution members to file written submissions and present their arguments.
Rosmah pleaded not guilty to 12 charges of money laundering in 2018 amounting to RM7,097,750 and five charges of failing to declare her income to the Inland Revenue Board for 2014 to 2018.
