
The index case for the new cluster, called the Tembok cluster, is a Malaysian male who has since died.
“The Covid-19 screening for the index case came back positive on Sept 28, 2020,” Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said in a statement today.
Close contact screenings identified two other positive cases involving Malaysians.
The two have since been admitted to Hospital Sultanah Bahiyah for treatment.
As of 12 pm on Sept 30, 2020, a total of 169 individuals have been screened. Three were found positive and 166 are still waiting their results.
Updating the numbers on the other active clusters, Noor Hisham said the Benteng LD cluster reported four new cases today, pushing the total positive cases from the cluster to 879.
A total of 11,846 individuals have been screened from the cluster thus far.
Noor Hisham said of the 879 positive cases, 525 were Malaysians and 354 were foreigners (223 from the Philippines, 130 from Indonesia and one from Timor-Leste).
Meanwhile the Bangau-Bangau cluster reported nine new cases today, pushing the total positive cases from the cluster to 287. A total of 231 are Malaysians and the remaining 56 are from the Philippines.
As of 30 Sept, a total of 458 individuals have been screened, of whom 120 are still waiting for their results.
The Bakawali cluster reported seven new cases. Noor Hisham said there were a total of 11 positive cases from the cluster, all involving Malaysians.
A total of 168 individuals were screened – 161 from Johor, five from Selangor, one from Melaka and one from Kelantan.
The Sungai cluster reported one new case from Kedah today, pushing the total number of positive cases to 100. A total of 25,406 individuals were screened from the cluster in Kedah, Penang and Perlis.
