Kelantan PPBM chairman Kamaruddin Md Nor maintained, however, that negotiations on seat allocations in all states are ongoing, with nothing finalised yet.
“Negotiations are done at the central level. They are ongoing. The states only give information, no agreement has been finalised yet.
“We at the state level will concede with whatever decision is agreed there (at the central level),” he said.
Kamaruddin also said it would not be outrageous for PAS to be allocated more seats in Kelantan, based on the strength and support the Islamist party has in the state.
He said PPBM should be allocated seats there although PAS might dominate in the state, while the same should be reciprocated in west coast states, as long as there is agreement.
He was commenting on PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang’s statement that much of the seat allocation among parties in Perikatan Nasional and Muafakat Nasional for the next general election have been completed, although the exact number was not yet finalised.
Hadi reportedly said PAS will get a majority of seats in Kelantan, Terengganu and Kedah.
In the last elections, PAS won nine parliamentary seats in Kelantan while Umno won five. For the state assembly, PAS won 37 seats and Umno eight. However, after the results of the 2018 elections, several Umno representatives left the party to join PPBM.
Currently, PPBM has two MPs in Kelantan – Mustapa Mohamed (Jeli) and Ikmal Hisham Abd Aziz (Tanah Merah) – and one state seat won by Mustapa in Ayer Lanas.
