In conjunction with virtual Merdeka celebrations, Snapchatters are encouraged to explore Snap’s Lens Studio to create a uniquely Malaysian AR lens.
MDEC said in a statement today that it supported these efforts through the two-day #YoungCreators event which will see the launch of a new platform to nurture the creative digital skills of youth in the country.
Featuring top influencers, talent and industry giants in the creative space, the #YoungCreators will provide an opportunity for young and budding content creators to learn how to leverage digital platforms as a means to upskill and empower creativity as well as generate income.

Stating that the partnership with Snap is yet another vote of confidence for the Malaysian digital content industry, MDEC chief executive Surina Shukri said she was excited to see homegrown Malaysian talent starting to be recognised internationally.
“While we have seen global successes, we should not rest on our laurels,” she said.
“Part of MDEC’s mandate is to ensure a holistic digital ecosystem can be formed and sustained. To that end, the content creation industry has shown significant promise.”
