Kok, the former primary industries minister, said it was impossible for a minister to attract such a huge investment from a short trip.
She said Azeez has no evidence to back his “infantile” claim.
Kok pointed out that the total export revenue from commodities under Khairuddin’s ministry in 2019 was RM114.2 billion, of which palm oil and rubber contributed RM59 billion and RM28.1 billion, respectively.
“Later, during the afternoon debate session in the Dewan Rakyat, Azeez corrected his statement by saying that Khairuddin has brought in RM82 billion in investments during his half-year tenure as minister. This shows he fibbed again.
“If Azeez can prove with evidence that Khairuddin has indeed brought in RM82 billion during his private trip to Turkey or during his five months tenure as a Cabinet minister, I will consider this a major feat, which even Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin could not have conceivably pulled off.
“If he can offer proof of such, then I would like to propose Khairuddin to be made the prime minister, because his performance has outshone all other Cabinet ministers, including Muhyiddin,” she said in a statement today.
Khairuddin has drawn flak during the past week for not observing the mandatory 14-day quarantine after returning from a visit to Turkey last month.
The minister has since been penalised with a RM1,000 compound on Aug 7 for breaching health and safety protocols.
Inspector-General of Police Abdul Hamid Bador also confirmed that Bukit Aman has opened an investigation paper on Khairuddin for flouting the mandatory quarantine.
