In a statement, Subang Jaya assemblyman Michelle Ng said her constituents received notifications through the app of Covid-19 cases in areas close to Empire Shopping Gallery, Subang Parade and Mydin Hypermarket in USJ 1.
She provided screenshots of the notifications.
But, she said, New Straits Times reported Subang Jaya police as denying claims the areas were hotspots and off-limits, and that the list of hotspots mentioned in the MySejahtera app was “not factual”.
“The Subang Parade management has released a statement that they have checked with the health ministry which confirmed the information of a Covid-19 case near the mall was not true,” she said.
Today, Ng said, the MySejahtera app no longer showed any Covid-19 cases near Empire Shopping Gallery and Subang Parade.
“I would like to urge the government to clarify the situation,” she said, adding this was important as the authorities had urged people to use the MySejahtera app as the main Covid-19 reference point.
“It is important to ensure all information provided is 100% accurate to avoid panic among the people.”
