11 new Covid-19 cases against 19 recoveries

Five of the new cases are imported, and the rest local infections.

PUTRAJAYA:
Malaysia reported 11 new Covid-19 cases, pushing the total number of patients so far to 9,094.

Of the new cases, five are imported ones, involving Malaysians, while the other six local infections involve one foreigner and five Malaysians.

At a press conference today, health director-general Noor Hisham Abdullah said one patient is being treated in the intensive care unit (ICU) with no need for respiratory assistance.

He said 19 patients have recovered, bringing the total number discharged so far to 8,803.

A total of 166 people are still being treated.

No new deaths were reported, with the toll remaining at 125.

Noor Hisham said of the imported cases, three had come from Australia, one from Japan and one from Singapore.

On the local infections, he said the sole foreign national did not show any symptoms but tested positive during workplace screening in Selangor.

He is being treated at Hospital Sungai Buloh.

The other five local infections involved two Malaysians in Johor and Melaka who underwent pre-operation screenings, and three cases from the Kurau cluster, who are family members of its index case.
