No interference by Umno, PN in Najib’s case, says Zahid

The Umno president says his party will ensure the process of getting justice is free and fair without intervention by any party.

Ahmad Zahid Hamidi says Umno/BN will uphold the High Court’s decision in Najib Razak’s SRC International case ‘in the best way possible’.
PETALING JAYA:
Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi today said there was no interference in the High Court’s decision to convict former prime minister Najib Razak for corruption in the SRC International case.

In a Facebook post, Zahid said the matter was not over as there was room for Najib to get justice through the legal process.

Yesterday, Najib was found guilty of seven counts of corruption in relation to RM42 million belonging to former 1MDB unit SRC International.

Najib was sentenced to 12 years’ jail and fined RM210 million and is appealing the verdict.

Umno and BN, Zahid said, will deal with the judgment in the best way possible while safeguarding the camaraderie with their allies in Muafakat Nasional and Perikatan Nasional.

“Honesty and sincerity in sharing power and friendship remain our main principle and this will be defended.”

He said Umno and BN will continue to explain to members the true situation of the case.

Zahid said while they respected the judge’s decision in the case, the possibility that a blunder may have been made must be studied.

“Umno and BN will ensure that the process of obtaining justice at all levels goes smoothly and is truly independent and fair without any elements of interference from any parties.”
