
He also said non-contact and individual sports competitions, such as motor racing, gymnastics, diving and singles badminton competitions, will be allowed from that date.
However, no spectators will be allowed.
“These are all individual sports without contact with other sportsmen, so we will allow these competitions to be held,” he said in a press conference today.
Operators of commercial fields and facilities such as futsal courts will also be allowed to open from July 15 onwards.
Meanwhile, contact sports competitions will be allowed to resume from Aug 15 onwards, with no spectators allowed as well.
This will allow the resumption of the national football, sepak takraw, hockey and rugby leagues, as well as combat sport competitions.
“These sports activities and competitions need to be held in a controlled environment by the premise operators and event organisers,” he said.
The full SOPs will be released by the youth and sports ministry, he said, adding that these competitions are strictly limited to domestic tournaments, with no mass gatherings of participants involved.
“International events involving foreign participants are still prohibited for now.”
Ismail also announced that family entertainment centres such as arcades, family karaoke centres, edutainment and kids gyms will be allowed to operate from July 15.
He said Putrajaya made the decision after taking into account the over 3,000 workers involved in the sector which contributes around RM500 million to the country’s revenue.
However, he said pubs, discos and nightclubs are not yet allowed to reopen.
