PETALING JAYA:
Amanah and DAP have yet to discuss a proposal to nominate Warisan leader Shafie Apdal as prime minister of a Pakatan Harapan administration, the two party leaders said in a joint statement.

Amanah president Mohamad Sabu and DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng said the matter must first be discussed by their respective party leaders before bringing it up at the Pakatan Harapan presidential council, where a unanimous decision is needed.

“Amanah and DAP are of the view that it is a new option to realise the efforts to bring back the rakyat’s mandate given to the Pakatan Harapan (PH) coalition and Warisan in the 14th General Election,” they said.

The proposal to nominate Shafie Apdal was announced by former PH chairman Dr Mahathir Mohamad earlier today. He said the decision was taken at an informal meeting he had with Mohamad, Lim, Shafie, former PPBM deputy president Mukhriz Mahathir, and others. Anwar and PKR were not among those named as being present.

Mahathir later said the meeting had also agreed to nominate Anwar as deputy prime minister I and Mukhriz to be deputy prime minister II.
