Ahmed Yomi, the spokesman for the Malaysian Nigerian diaspora seeking justice for her, said the woman, who goes by the name of Nicole, had told police in her report that she met a man who showed interest in her in Changkat, Kuala Lumpur.
She had then left with the man for a hotel.
Nicole claimed that the man had arranged for some other friends of his to wait near the hotel. She claimed she was beaten up and gang-raped.
According to Ahmed, the men took photos and videos of the victim naked and threatened to release them if she disclosed the incident.
She said Nicole was kept hostage at an apartment but another woman there let her escape.
“She immediately informed the security at the apartment and asked them to call the police. They took her to the station where she lodged a report.”
Police later remanded Nicole for not having a valid visa. The men are in police custody and are expected to be charged under Section 334 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt.
However, her lawyer is currently pushing for the men to be charged under Section 376 for rape.
FMT has written to the Nigerian High Commission for a response. An online petition demanding justice for her has almost 6,000 signatures.
