DBKL closes down barber shop, car wash run by foreigners

Authorities continue crackdown against illegal workers in the city.

Kuala Lumpur City Hall says the foreigners did not have permits to carry on their businesses.
KUALA LUMPUR:
City Hall (DBKL) continued its crackdown on illegal workers today and arrested two foreign business operators at Keramat Wangsa in Setiawangsa.

The two Bangladeshis did not have permits to carry on their businesses.

One was found running a barber shop called Kedai Gunting Rambut Abang Din, and the other operated a car wash service.

DBKL said the man running the car wash had refused to cooperate and tried to run away. It said the two premises were immediately shut down.

Earlier today, DBKL said foreigners without proper documentation were not allowed to work in wholesale markets as per the city’s by-laws.

“Only workers with valid permits and who are registered with suppliers are allowed to enter the market accompanied by their Malaysian employers,” it said.
