Senior Minister for Security Ismail Sabri Yaakob said they will not have to undergo the 14-day mandatory quarantine as this comes under emergency cases.
“The standard operating procedure is that they can attend a funeral but in full PPE.
“We will allow them to be there for three hours maximum and they will be followed by frontliners,” he said at his daily briefing here.
Ismail said it would be up to the Singapore government to quarantine them after they return to the republic.
He said this has been allowed before.
Ismail also said those who had crossed state borders to “balik kampung” should return as disciplinary action could be taken against them for failing to report to work.
However, he said they would need to pay a compound fine or other charges issued by the police.
He said police officers had also been placed at KTM, MRT and LRT stations to check on those returning home.
As for small-scale gatherings after the Aidilfitri celebrations, Ismail said these were not allowed as the SOPs clearly stated that people were only allowed to visit on the first day of Raya.
Ismail also cautioned against sharing of fake news on Covid-19, stating that 266 cases were being probed by the police and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC).
