No new deaths, recoveries exceed infections

71 recoveries against 55 new infections.

PUTRAJAYA:
No new deaths were reported today, leaving the country’s Covid-19 toll stagnant at 105.

However, 55 more infections were recorded over the past 24 hours.

This brings total cases to 6,353, health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said today.

Seventy-one patients were also discharged, bringing total recoveries to 4,484 or 70.58% of cases.

Another 1,764 continue receiving treatment with 28 in the intensive care unit and 13 in need of respiratory assistance.

Noor Hisham said 24 new cases had been detected in three areas under enhanced movement control order (EMCO), with 21 identified at Pusat Bandar Utara (KL North) and the areas surrounding the Selayang wholesale market.

Of these, 17 cases were from outside the EMCO areas.

Two new cases were detected at Selangor Mansion and one at Malayan Mansion, where the EMCO was lifted last night.

The EMCO was also lifted at Menara City One, the An-Nabawiyyah tahfiz school and a house at Batu Kampung Sungai Lui, Hulu Langat.

The EMCO at Parcels A and B at Pusat Bandar Utara (KL North) and Selayang wholesale market will be lifted today.

The health ministry, he said, will continue to monitor these areas.

Noor Hisham also said a cluster in Sarawak involving 37 cases with links to the Sri Petaling tabligh cluster had been identified as the Taman BDC Kuching cluster.

He urged Malaysians and foreigners to download the MySejahtera and MyTrace apps which are both free to help the authorities monitor the pandemic.

He said MySejahtera could identify hotspots within a one-km radius based on the user’s location. It also identifies the nearest facilities for Covid-19 screening.

MyTrace meanwhile helps the government carry out contact tracing for Covid-19 cases.

“MyTrace does not collect any geolocation data,” Noor Hisham added.
