ALOR SETAR: Two people are feared to have been buried alive in a landslide at the foot of Gunung Jerai in Gurun today.
The Kedah Fire and Rescue Department director, Sayani Saidon, said the department received an emergency call at 6.28pm and dispatched rescue personnel to the scene two minutes later.
“Based on early information received, two people might have been buried about 40 feet (12 metres) deep.
“The victims are believed to have been doing digging work in the area,” he said in a statement here.
He said the landslide happened at a housing project site.
“Efforts to search for the victims are being conducted by personnel from the Guar Chempedak Fire and Rescue station,” he added.
