PETALING JAYA:
Health workers and frontliners managing the Covid-19 outbreak have joined a stay-at-home social media campaign urging the public to avoid leaving their houses after the government’s movement control order came into effect today.

Doctors, nurses and other healthcare workers took to Twitter and Facebook to spread the message using the #KitaJagaKita (We Take Care of Each Other) hashtag launched by social media users, with over 20,000 tweets this afternoon.

Some workers were seen holding up posters which read “We Stay @Work 4 U, U stay @Home 4 Us”, urging the public to stay at home and to take care of their health.

Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin announced a movement control order in a special address two nights ago to curb the spread of Covid-19, which has caused two deaths in Malaysia so far.

Health Minister Dr Adham Baba announced yesterday that two Covid-19 patients died as the number of cases rose to 673. Today, the total number of confirmed cases rose to 790 with 112 new cases confirmed.

The movement control order includes a ban on mass gatherings for religious, sports, social and cultural activities and the closure of schools, government and business premises from March 18 until March 31.
