PETALING JAYA:
The operations of four water treatment plants in Selangor have been suspended after state-owned Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Syabas) detected odour pollution today at 7pm.

As a result, the subsidiary of Air Selangor said consumers could expect water cuts in Kuala Lumpur, Petaling Jaya, Klang, Shah Alam, Kuala Selangor, Hulu Selangor, Gombak and Kuala Langat.

In a statement, it said Air Selangor had lodged a report with the Selangor Water Management Authority for further action.

The four water plants are LRA SSP1, LRA SSP2, LRA SSP3 and LRA Rantau Panjang. They draw water mainly from Sungai Selangor.

“Air Selangor will make an announcement on the water cuts from time to time,” it said, advising consumers not to waste water.

It further advised consumers to download the Air Selangor application through AppStore to get more information or to call 15300 for further details.

In July last year, the four water treatment plants were also shut down after diesel contamination was detected.
