The three-term assemblyman will head the health, agriculture, agro-based industries and rural development committee, the post vacated by Seberang Jaya assemblyman Afif, who is aligned with former PKR deputy president Mohamed Azmin Ali.
Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said the state PKR named Norlela in a letter which he received.
Her swearing-in will be held at Seri Mutiara, the residence of the Yang di-Pertua Negeri, on Thursday, he told a press conference at his office in Komtar today.
Afif, who resigned from the post on Wednesday, said he had been pressured by the state PKR and party headquarters to quit.
He has been issued with a show cause letter by the party’s disciplinary board for allegedly causing trouble at the youth congress in Melaka last December.
