“A healthy body and strong stamina are important to carry out activities,” he added.

His post received 65,000 likes and over 3,500 comments at the time of writing, mostly praising him for his active lifestyle.

A Mohd Zamkhairi Zain said Mahathir has a way of projecting positive vibes “each and every time”.

“Hope those surrounding him will follow his way of life.”

Vashti Shaveena Nair commented: “Love this, Tun M! I admire the way you stay fit. I gotta run today. No more excuses. If you can do it, so can we!”

Norhayati Abdullah wrote: “Regardless of what has been said about Tun, he is one in a million; a unique human being. May Allah bless Tun. Respect you, Tun.”

A day after Muhyiddin Yassin was sworn in as the prime minister, Mahathir was seen taking the stairs to his office at Yayasan Perdana in Putrajaya.
