Najib Razak questioned a report by a news portal who quoted him as saying that Umno leaders are backing a new coalition.
PETALING JAYA:
Najib Razak has denied speaking to an online news portal which reported the former prime minister as saying that Umno MPs have signed statutory declarations backing the formation of a new political coalition.

Najib was earlier quoted by The Malaya Post website as saying that they had agreed, with conditions, to the formation of the coalition by Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

“I have never spoken to ‘The Malaya Post’. Why are they quoting my name all of a sudden?” he asked in a Facebook post.

The report came after leaders from PPBM, PAS, Umno and those aligned to PKR deputy president Mohamed Azmin Ali gathered at a hotel in Petaling Jaya in anticipation of an announcement of a shift in political loyalties.

Separately, supporters of PKR president Anwar Ibrahim held a prayer session at his home in Bukit Segambut, where he lashed out at attempts to betray Pakatan Harapan.
