Opposition man held over intrusion at Syed Saddiq do?

A source says one of the three suspects is a party's divisional youth leader.

Scores of protesters gathered outside a restaurant in Ulu Tiram, Johor, last Friday, where PPBM’s Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman was attending an event with party comrades.
PETALING JAYA:
One of the three men arrested over alleged aggression against PPBM Youth leader Syed Saddiq Abdul Rahman holds a leadership position in an opposition party, a source has told FMT.

“He is a youth leader in the party’s Pasir Gudang division,” said the source, who declined to be named.

The other two suspects had no connection with the party, he added.

FMT has contacted the police for confirmation and is waiting for a response.

Syed Saddiq was at a dinner gathering in a restaurant in the Johor Bahru suburb of Ulu Tiram last Friday night when a large crowd of youths allegedly started a commotion, hurling abuse at him.

He said he and two other PPBM leaders felt forced to use the rear exit to leave the restaurant.

Those having dinner with him were his parents, Melaka executive councillor Mohd Rafiq Naizamohideen, Puteri Wangsa assemblyman Mazlan Bujang and several other PPBM members and their families.

Police are investigating the case under the Penal Code provisions of assault, criminal intimidation and starting a provocation.
