Party announces anti-illegal immigrants vigilante force

Putra says it wants to complement immigration authorities.

A Malay-based political party has offered 1,000 volunteers to help nab foreigners who stay illegally.
KUALA LUMPUR:
A little known Malay political party said it has mobilised 1,000 vigilantes to hunt down illegal immigrants in the country.

Parti Bumiputera Perkasa Malaysia (Putra) said it was offering assistance to the Immigration Department and police to nab foreigners who overstay their visas.

“The influx of foreigners is something that can threaten the sovereignty of the country,” Putra vice-president Mohd Khairul Azam Abdul Aziz said at a press conference today.

Khairul Azam said his party welcomes Malaysians of all races to join as volunteers.

“Without pay or wage, they are willing to serve voluntarily,” he added.

“There will be eyes watching and giving us information, and we will ensure the authorities act efficiently,” he said.
