3,000 flood victims still being sheltered at relief centres

Situation in Johor and Pahang improves, little change in Kelantan and Sabah.

KUALA LUMPUR:
More than 3,000 flood victims are still being housed at temporary relief centres in Kelantan, Johor, Pahang and Sabah this morning.

The flood situation in Johor and Pahang has improved, with the water level of most major rivers at normal level, while there was little change in Kelantan and Sabah.

Kelantan has the highest number of evacuees with 2,029 from 715 families, Johor 810 from 196 families, Pahang 318 from 89 families, and Sabah with 489 people from 168 families.

In Kelantan, where it was cloudy this morning, the number of victims has risen slightly compared to 1,941 from 675 families last night.

A total of 1,847 victims from 665 families are putting up at 12 relief centres in Pasir Mas while 182 people from 50 families are staying at two evacuation centres in Jeli.

In Johor, the flood victims are sheltered at 14 relief centres in Kluang, Batu Pahat and Segamat.

In Pahang, the floods have almost receded with only Temerloh still having 318 evacuees from 89 families sheltered at two relief centres.

In Sabah, the number of flood victims from several villages in Beaufort and Membakut evacuated to the temporary relief centre at Dewan Selagon increased to 402 at 8am.

Several roads linking the villages were also closed to all traffic.

In Tenom, three evacuation centres are still open, housing 87 victims from 26 families.
