RoS keeps eye on PKR Youth congress

The Registrar of Societies says it is monitoring developments to see if they go against the Societies Act 1966 and the party's constitution.

Scuffles broke out between two PKR Youth factions at their congress in Melaka today.
PETALING JAYA:
The Registrar of Societies (RoS) is keeping an eye on the PKR Youth congress in Melaka after scuffles broke out outside the venue this morning.

RoS public relations assistant director Md Azwari Ma’arof said they were monitoring developments to see whether they went against the Societies Act 1966 and the party’s constitution.

Several members of PKR Youth’s central leadership council had urged RoS to declare the youth congress null and void, and that it be held on another date.

They also want the party’s top leadership to guarantee their safety following the incidents outside the Melaka International Trade Centre which left at least one person in need of medical attention.

PKR Youth deputy chief Muhammad Hilman Idham claimed the congress had been hijacked and sabotaged.

“We feel sad that the congress, which began harmoniously last night, has been tarnished by premeditated sabotage,” he told reporters after fist fights broke out between two factions of party members.
