PETALING JAYA:
International trade and industry ministry (MITI) secretary-general Lokman Hakim Ali has dismissed allegations of wrongdoing in a RM50 million tender for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (Apec) 2020 summit.

Speaking to FMT, Lokman said the entire tender process was above board and that it had gone through an open tender.

He was commenting on claims by some social media users that a tender for the Apec 2020 summit had been awarded to a company controlled by former officers of a minister from the previous administration. They alleged cronyism.

“Those alleging malpractices in the government, please lodge a report to the relevant authorities so that action can be taken. I have full trust in our legal system,” he said.

Malaysia will host the Apec 2020 summit which is expected to be attended by leaders of the 21 member countries. The last time Malaysia played host was in 1998.
