PKR sackings came after MACC advice, says official

The dismissal of two PKR members was made on a suggestion by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission, according to the party’s communications director Fahmi Fadzil.

He said the party disciplinary board had suggested that PKR Bera division chairman Zakaria Abdul Hamid and an ordinary member, Ismail Dulhadi, be given the boot following an investigation by the MACC.

“The central leadership council is of the view that the MACC’s investigation is thorough and complete and therefore there was no need for the party to investigate the matter,” Fahmi said.

Zakaria and Ismail were investigated by the MACC following allegations of graft during the party elections’ last year.

Earlier today, Zakaria accused the party of taking action against him without an opportunity to defend himself.

He also said that he had not been informed officially yet about his dismissal from PKR, which was announced by disciplinary board chairman Ahmad Kassim after a leadership meeting today.
