The event’s organiser, Pasir Salak MP Tajuddin Abdul Rahman, sarcastically dedicated the large attendance to PPBM chairman Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
“Last night’s Pakatan Harapan ceramah was said to ‘only’ have 2,000 people,” he said. Mahathir, however, had said he was impressed with the 8,000 people who turned up at the PH ceramah.
Also present at tonight’s event were Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and his deputy, Mohamad Hasan, PAS deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man and former prime minister Najib Razak.
The crowd was split in half with one section for males and the other for females, with some attendees sitting on the chairs provided and the rest settling on the ground.
Johor Barisan Nasional chief Hasni Mohammad expressed hope that tonight’s attendance would translate into votes for the coalition’s candidate, Wee Jeck Seng, as Tanjung Piai residents go the polls this Saturday, Nov 16.
“Let us keep praying,” he added.
