
The Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah, presented the award to Daud at the national level Maulidur Rasul 1441H/2019 celebration at the Axiata Arena, Bukit Jalil, here.
Daud received a cash prize of RM50,000, a trophy and a certificate.
Four others were also presented with the national level Maulidur Rasul Award. They were academician Asma Ismail, social activist Lee Lam Thye, Hospital Mesra Ibadah founder Dr Khalid Ibrahim and humanitarian activist Mohd Azmi Abdul Hamid.
They each received a cash prize of RM20,000, a trophy and a certificate.
Daud, 84, has been the Kelantan syarie chief judge since 1989. He is a panellist and reference expert for the shariah community at the Attorney-General’s Chambers, a member of the Court of Appeal panel of judges and a member of the Kelantan Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council.
Also present at the ceremony were the Raja Permaisuri Agong, Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah, Deputy Prime Minister Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail and Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department and chairman of the 2019 national level Maulidur Rasul main committee Mujahid Yusof.
