Perak MB says ‘lone battle’ with DAP video taken out of context

Ahmad Faizal Azumu says while there are DAP leaders who run him down, it is important for all parties in the coalition to work closely together.

Perak Menteri Besar Ahmad Faizal Azumu says his true friends in DAP know him well enough to understand what he meant.
PETALING JAYA:
Perak Menteri Besar Ahmad Faizal Azumu today denied any rift with Pakatan Harapan coalition partner DAP, saying a viral video of him complaining of his “lone battle” was taken out of context.

Speaking to FMT, Faizal said the video, which is making the rounds on social media, did not record his full remarks.

“I’ve been saying that I’ve gone through a lot in Perak and there are DAP leaders who run me down.

“What is important is that we all work closely together.”

Unfortunately, he said certain irresponsible parties had only recorded a small portion of his remarks and this gave an inaccurate picture.

In the two-minute-47-second clip, which was uploaded on Kepala Batas Umno member Azizi Safar’s Facebook page today, Faizal was seen discussing with a group of people on how he had to face DAP on several issues, including the Malay land issue.

“I am fighting alone with the DAP factions.

“I want to defend Malay land and fight for our religion. I am doing this slowly,” he says in the video.

Faizal goes on to say that he is thankful that some “friends in Umno” did not reprimand him in his efforts.

“They are on good terms with me,” he says.

The video clip also shows Pakatan Harapan’s candidate for Tanjung Piai, Karmaine Sardini. It is believed that it was taken on the campaign trail for the Nov 16 by-election.

Faizal said the conversation was about how PH parties were learning about each other and how this took time.

“My true friends in DAP know me well enough to understand what I meant.

“We are in this together, trying to improve the state and country.”

The video, he said, was an attempt to fulfil certain people’s agenda.
