He said PH has discussed the possibilities and actions that could be taken if its candidate, Karmaine Sardini, wins on Nov 16.
“I hope the people there will be aware that promises to improve the constituency can be fulfilled if PH wins, but if MCA wins, they won’t be able to do anything anyway,” he said.
Mahathir also said he did not think that Karmaine’s comments on the price of palm oil will affect PH’s chances of winning.
Earlier, Karmaine advised smallholders to be glad about the price of the commodity instead of complaining about its decline, because the current price is still higher than it was under the Barisan Nasional (BN) administration.
His remarks triggered criticism from the opposition.
“They don’t understand what they are talking about and the voters may not understand them as well,” he said, referring to BN.
The Tanjung Piai by-election will see a six-cornered fight involving Karmaine, BN’s Wee Jeck Seng, Gerakan’s Wendy Subramaniam, Berjasa’s Badhrulhisham Abdul Aziz and two independents, Ang Chuan Lock and Faridah Aryani Abdul Ghaffar.
