
Speaking at an event here last night, he said farmers should be grateful despite the drop in price to RM270 per tonne, claiming it had only been RM87 per tonne under BN.
“They should be really grateful. RM270 is not little; it’s actually a lot,” he said in his speech.
He added that there had been no complaints when the price of palm oil dropped to RM87 a tonne under the previous government.
He also said the cost of living in Tanjung Piai is not as high as it is in the city.
“If you have 10 acres (of palm oil estate), you get at least five tonnes (of palm oil). Multiplied by RM270, you get more than RM1,000.
“Why do you want to spend so much when you’re situated in a village? You plant your own vegetables to eat. You only need to top up petrol so you can still eat,” he said.
