GEORGE TOWN:
Home ministry officers today confiscated 13 copies of the controversial comic book “Belt and Road Initiative for Win Winism” from a store in Komtar here, a day after it was banned.

Officers visited the souvenir store located next to the Asia Comic Cultural Museum operated by the book’s author Hew Kuan Yau.

Yesterday, the home ministry said the comic book promoted communism and was a threat to public order.

The 164-page book drew condemnation after news that 2,500 copies in Bahasa Malaysia were distributed to school libraries as reference material.

Critics say the work was promoting Chinese propaganda.
