KOTA KINABALU:
Sabah PKR says it may take action against its women’s chief Rahimah Majid over her recent criticism of the chief minister and state government in connection with the Sabah Water Department issue.

Rahimah said on Sunday that the appointment of Amarjit Singh as head of the state water department and the subsequent defiance of the court decision on the matter had compromised the credibility and integrity of the state government.

She also said that the chief minister and state government were sending the “wrong signals” to the world as well as potential investors that they would not honour the law or court decisions.

State PKR disciplinary bureau chief Sazalye Donol said these were Rahimah’s personal views which did not represent the party’s stand.

“These kinds of things should not have happened. It is as though she was speaking as the opposition,” he added.

He told FMT that Rahimah’s statement had not been cleared by the state leadership or Sabah PKR chairman Christina Liew.

“We are scrutinising her statement to see if she violated the party’s constitution. If she did, we will call her to face the panel tasked with looking at this matter,” he said.

“We will be meeting soon to see if action will be taken.”

He also urged leaders of the ruling coalition to voice their opinions through the appropriate channels to preserve relations between PKR and Warisan.

“Accusing the state government of losing its credibility means implicating her own party,” he added.

He also said that Sabah PKR believed the state government had sought the views of legal experts before issuing any statements on the water department issue.
