Suitors for Malaysia Airlines identified, says Azmin

Four local and foreign companies shortlisted from a list of 20, Dewan Rakyat told.

The government is weighing options on the future of national carrier Malaysia Airlines.
KUALA LUMPUR:
The government has shortlisted four companies as potential strategic partners for Malaysia Airlines, Economic Affairs Minister Mohamed Azmin Ali told the Dewan Rakyat today.

Azmin said that sole shareholder Khazanah Nasional Bhd as well as Malaysia Aviation Group Bhd have identified the four from 20 regional and foreign companies.

Azmin however declined to give details, citing a non-disclosure agreement.

“Whatever decision made will be in the best interest for Malaysia Airlines and to ensure it has the best strategic partner,” he said to a question by Alexander Nanta Linggi (GPS-Kapit).

Earlier this month, it was reported that Khazanah was to decide on the airline’s strategic partner by year-end.
